Project Slayers is an imposing Roblox game and a very addictive one too! In this Demon Slayer-inspired fighting game, you will have the opportunity to choose the path of a Demon Slayer or a Demon. This guide will explain how Project Slayers Breathing works once you have already acquired it. My character has learned Wind Breathing, so I will use that as an example, but it will help me understand how all four breathing work.
However, before that, once you hit level 12, you can go to one of the four trainers currently available in the game to train and learn a Breathing Style; Wind Breathing, Water Breathing, Thunder Breathing, and Insect Breathing (each link leads to the specific Breathings guide where you find out how to acquire it and all its moves). You will also need 5,000 Wen, and then you must complete 5 quests. Out of those 5 quests only the last one is a challenge as you have to fight a boss.
This guide will explain how Breathing works once you have already acquired it. My character has learned Wind Breathing, so I will use that as an example, but it will help me understand how all four breathing work.
How does Breathing work in Project Slayers?
Let's start with the image below:
After learning a Breathing Style, you will see the above screen once you equip your sword. The most crucial piece of information here is the vertical bar next to your character.
Lung Capacity
The top number is your lung capacity. Initially, it's only 75 but training and increasing your Breathing level will take up to 115 once you reach Breathing Level 3 (Total Concentration).
This is accomplished by doing Gourd Training. You will have to spend a lot of Wen to maximize your Breathing, which will increase your lung capacity (and provide another, even more helpful perk, as you will find out below).
Breathing to Fill Up Your Lungs
The second number in the bar shows your current Breathing Points. You will need to press L and hold it to breathe in and fill your lungs until max capacity. Once you stop pressing L, you will start losing Breathing Points (quite fast if your Breathing Level is 0).
Achieving Total Concentration will slowly fill up your breathing bar without pressing L, making spamming Breathing moves and performing combos much easier in PvE or PvP battles.
Spending Breathing Points: Using Breathing Moves
Each Breathing move consumes Breathing Points, so early on, you can use one Breathing move on each mob you slay, as there is not enough time to press L again to regain Breathing Points. This is enough to increase your Wind/Thunder/Water/Insect Mastery, though.
As the screen shows, you will:
- Have the first move available right from the start. Move cost: 17 Breathing Points.
- Unlock the second Breathing move once you reach Wind/Thunder/Water/Insect Mastery Level 15. Move cost: 23 Breathing Points.
- Unlock the third Breathing move once you reach Wind/Thunder/Water/Insect Mastery Level 22. Move cost: 23 Breathing Points.
- Unlock the fourth Breathing move once you reach Wind/Thunder/Water/Insect Mastery Level 30. Move cost: 29Breathing Points.
- Unlock the fifth Breathing move once you reach Wind/Thunder/Water/Insect Mastery Level 37. Move cost: ?? Breathing Points.
- Unlock the fifth Breathing move once you reach Wind/Thunder/Water/Insect Mastery Level 50. However, you must first obtain this move which has a 10% drop from the boss you defeated in your final Breathing Training quest (in my case, that's Sanemi, others will have to defeat Shiron and Zenitsu). This only exception is Water Breathing, as you will have to obtain its sixth move from Giyu.
Is Breathing Worth It?
In short, yes. Initially, you will find Breathing underwhelming, as you will have access to just one move, and your Breathing Points will drop so fast that by the time the move's Cooldown ends, you won't have enough points to use it a second time.
However, once you start leveling up your Breathing Level and Mastery, you will find out it's not just a great supplement to your regular Katana combos. Breathing will allow you to perform combos that leave bosses or players. Once you reach Level 2 you will have 95 Breathing Points of Lung Capacity and your points won't drop unless you use a move. At this point, Breathing is already useful. But once you reach level 3, you Breathing Points will start replenishing. The regeneration only stops momentarily when you use a move.
Then it is a matter of training to unlock all your moves and gaining the 6th move to start doing some serious combos.
I am very far from that point, but you will find many YouTube videos showcasing the power of Breathing Styles:
What is the Best Breathing in Project Slayers?
That's a tough question to answer. Wind and Insect Breathing are more appropriate for consistent combos in PvP, while Water and Thunder Breathing are easier to use against PvE bosses. This all depends on each player's skill, though, as the game relies on consistently linking your combos to stun-lock enemies. Despite placing Wind Breathing at the top on our Breathing Tier List, all four are solid options.
Summing it up
As you can tell, there are two elements that you need to master to maximize your Breathing in Project Slayers:
- Breathing Level: Do Gourd Training (purchase one, equip and click to breathe in it as much as required until you break it). This will increase your lung capacity to 115 Breathing Points and allow you to fill it up without using L to breathe. You will need 180 +360 Breathing Points to achieve Total Concentration.
- Winder/Thunder/Water/Insect Mastery: Keep using your breathing moves until you reach max mastery level, allowing you to use all current and future moves that will be added into the game (once you obtain them from bosses).
