We all wanted a Pokémon MOBA, right? Well, with Pokémon Unite, we now have one! Released in July 2021, Pokémon Unite is a 5v5, team-based game, just like Dota 2 and League of Legends, where each player controls their own individual Pokemon. The game is available on Nintendo Switch (that Ethernet port in Nintendo Switch OLED will definitely come in handy) with a mobile release in the works scheduled for September 2021.

Naturally, as with most MOBA games, it's good to know which are the best Pokémon for each role in the fight. So, we have the list of the best all-rounder Pokemon, best attacker Pokemon, best defender Pokemon, best speedster Pokemon, and best supporter Pokemon ready for you!

Keep in mind that you will need to level up Pokémon and get them to their final form to unleash their full power. Pokémon like Pikachu with no evolved forms (Raichu is not available) have an advantage early on which may eventually be evened out or outclassed later in the fight.

Pokemon Unite Overall Tier List – Ranking Pokemon from Best to Worst

The overall tier list is not super useful in this game but it gives you an idea of what to expect and what to avoid when you pick a character.

Best All-rounders in Pokemon Unite

All-rounders are Pokémon with balanced offense and endurance and are highly tenacious fighters. The main challenge with the three best All-rounders is that you will have to reach level 9 (or 10 in the case of Gachomp) to get to their final evolved form. You will find Machamp the most reliable early on due to its mobility and the ability to increase its damage output. Charizard is somewhat early on, while Garchomp is going to require some mastering before you can make the most of it.

Best Attackers in Pokemon Unite

Attackers are Pokémon with low endurance that deal heavy ranged damage to opponents. Pikachu stands out here with a powerful move-set that can also keep it out of harm's way despite its low endurance.

Best Defenders in Pokémon Unite

Defenders are Pokémon that have high endurance and excel at protecting allies and hindering opponents. Snorlax stands out here due to its massive endurance and the ability to inflict status and heal itself with a Power Nap while damaging enemies.

Best Speedsters in Pokémon Unite

Speedsters are Pokémon that have high Mobility and Offense and excel at making quick attacks and scoring points. They are pretty much the assassins and rogues of Pokémon Unite. Absol is exceptional here due to its high mobility and the ability to inflict confusion ailments to enemies. Talonflame also stands out due to its extreme mobility and Flame Sweep, despite its low durability.

Best Supporters in Pokémon Unite

Supporters are Pokémon that provide team support by inflicting status conditions on opponents and by healing allies. Eldegoss is the easiest Supporter to control as it focuses on healing and damage reduction. You will find Wiglituff more challenging as timing will be vital.
