However, one of the most annoying aspects of Netflix is the limitations it poses to genre and subgenre searches. Thus, while there is indeed great anime content on the platform, you may never come across it.
The Netflix UI will only make recommendations based on what you have already watched and liked. Other than that, you can access TV shows and Movies from the toolbar, or search for a title.
Once in the movies or TV shows menu, you can use the dropdown menu to look for particular genres, just like the image below. However, while you can browse Anime as a genre overall, you cannot browse anime categories and subcategories.

Nevertheless, Netflix associates every subgenre with a category/genre code. To overcome the limited category browsing and search options, you can use these category codes directly in your browser address bar.
Getting back to anime movies and tv series specifically, Netflix offers one primary category code and nine subcategory codes you can use to browse Anime subgenres.
As an example, let's see how you can access all anime content using the anime category code (7424):
- Firstly, all you need to do is sign in to your Netflix account through your web browser.
- Then enter the following URL into your browser's address bar: www.netflix.com/browse/genre/7424.
This way, you will be able to access all the anime content available on Netflix. Please note that this method does not unlock any secret content not available in your region.
The benefit of this process is that it allows you to browse subgenres directly and find hidden gems. Essentially, this overcomes the recommendation and search system limitations.
You can find Anime subgenres by replacing the numbers 7424 at the end of the URL www.netflix.com/browse/genre/7424 with the following category/genre codes:
- Generic Anime Content: 7424
- Adult Animation Content: 11881
- Action Anime Subgenre: 2653
- Anime Comedies Subgenre: 9302
- Anime Dramas Subgenre: 452
- Fantasy Anime Subgenre: 11146
- Anime Features Content: 3063
- Horror Anime Subgenre: 10695
- Sci-Fi Anime Subgenre: 2729
- Anime Series Content: 6721
With all these “secret” codes, you can unlock easier and faster access to all anime titles on Netflix by browsing all the subgenres and subcategories.
This method will help you find all Anime on Netflix in a more straightforward way.
