Greetings, Vault Hunters. If you are looking for shift codes for the original Borderlands game, we are here for you. Even in 2021, shift codes work for all four Borderlands games, and we get a bunch of them every month. In this post, you will find all the Borderlands shift codes that provide free golden keys.

Golden Keys open special golden chests that always provide weapons of Epic+ rarity, so you have an opportunity to acquire some Legendary weapons that scale to your level. As usual, I recommend saving some keys for higher levels.

You can also check our Borderlands 3 shift codes, Borderlands 2 shift codes, and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel shift codes lists.

What are Borderlands SHiFT Codes?

Shift Codes are used to obtain Golden Keys that players can use to unlock the Golden Mysterious Loot Chest in Fyrestone or New Heaven. Gearbox Software releases Borderlands shift codes through social media.

You will need a Shift Account to use the keys, so be sure to sign up for one if you haven't already.

Where to get Borderlands SHiFT Codes

Randy Pitchford, CEO of Gearbox Software, gives out keys from time to time, so you might want to follow his Twitter account!

Alternatively, the fan-run dgShiftCodes Twitter account features a bot that tweets every new Shift code shortly after Randy tweets them out.

Ideally, you can find them all at once from Borderpolar, so bookmark this post!

How to redeem Borderlands 1 SHiFT Codes

Redeeming shift codes for all Borderlands games can be done very easily through Gearbox's SHiFT website.

  1. Sign up for SHiFT.
  2. Link your account via Steam, the Epic Store, Stadia, or the PS4 and Xbox One consoles.
  3. Head to the SHiFT Account Rewards Page.
  4. Copy and paste or type in one of the active 25-digit shift codes in this post.
  5. The item will then be sent to your in-game mailbox.

You can also perform the code redemption process in-game through the Social Menu.

Is there a golden chest in Borderlands 1?

One of the biggest Borderlands remastered (or Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition) changes was the addition of SHiFT codes, golden keys, and the infamous golden chest.

Since the golden chest was not present in the original version of Borderlands, it makes sense that fans may have trouble finding it at first. The golden chest in Borderlands is located in the Fyrestone area of the Arid Badlands. Players can access the area very early in the game.

Opening the golden chest rewards players with purple and magenta rare weapons.

How to collect Borderlands golden geys and shift code rewards

While in the game, open up the game menu, and press Social.

Then press the envelope icon to go to the Mail menu.

You find all the Golden Keys you've obtained in your mail! Stay tuned for more Borderlands 1 key codes!

Do Borderlands SHiFT codes still work 2021?

Yes, Gearbox Software released shift codes for all Borderlands games, even in 2021. Some of the Borderlands games even have permanently active shift codes!

Do Golden Keys transfer to Borderlands 3?

No, Borderlands golden keys are not transferrable between games.

Do Golden Keys expire?

While the Shift codes themselves expired, unless they are permanent, the Golden keys you acquire through them never expire. They will be carried by your character until you use them.
