Gina Carano won't appear in future Star Wars TV shows; it's been confirmed after the actress reportedly shared an offensive message on Instagram from another account that asked how the Holocaust is “any different to hating someone for their political views” continuing her long trend of alt-right posts. The post has been deleted but was screengrabbed and widely shared.
Carano won't appear in The Mandalorian season 3, nor another Star Wars project she was apparently expected to lead until late last year. Carano was likely to star in Rangers of the New Republic – a Mandalorian spin-off coming from Jon Favreau to Disney Plus.
The Mandalorian season 3 will probably start filming on April, 2021.
“Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future,” Lucasfilm stated on The Hollywood Reporter. “Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.” the statement added. Gina Carano has also been dropped by her agents at UTA.
How does this affect the Mandalorian?
After the finale of season 2, the Mandalorian has so many options to explore that it's hard to imagine the show will be affected by the absence of the Marshal of planet Nevarro. There is always the option to recast the character, but we will have to wait and see what happens.
