Antutu posted its monthly Top 10 smartphone ranking charts for December 2020. Antutu's rankings award the best-performing flagship and mid-range smartphones monthly. Antutu collected its data between December 1 and 31, 2020. The ranking results are the medians between the top 1000 benchmarked units of every model.
The Xiaomi Mi 11, officially released on January 1st, 2021 expectedly topped the chart since it is currently the only phone on the market powered by the new Snapdragon 888 chipset. It is closely followed by the Mate 40 Pro+ and Mate 40 Pro phones by Huawei, powered by the Kirin 9000 system-on-chip (SoC).
There are no Samsung phones with an Exynos 990 chipset in the top 10, as Exynos 990 was quite a disappointment due to throttling issues. It was not as fast as Qualcomm's Snapdragon 865 competition, and it fell even further behind with the release of Snapdragon 865+ smartphones.
As a matter of fact, only three brands have phones on the list – Xiaomi, Huawei, and Vivo. OnePlus and Oppo are a bit further behind even though they use the same Snapdragon 865 chipset.
The Top 10 list for midrange smartphones follows the same pattern with Huawei and Xiaomi dominating. Oppo manages to get in at ninth, followed by its spin-off Realme and its China-only Q2 Pro 5G.
In the midrange category of smartphones, we can see that two Chinese chipset leaders – Dimensity 820 and Kirin 985-powered phones dominate, having a significant advantage over the smartphones in positions 6 to 10.
Finally, in the upcoming month or two, many new 2021 smartphone releases are bound to affect the above lists greatly. So stay tuned for the updated raw benchmark performance lists by Antutu to get an idea of the current status of the Android market at the start of 2021.
